Elbing (now Elblag, Poland) lies just south of the Baltic Sea in what was former called "East Prussia."

The former Galka/Scheffler home was in this city (now part of Poland). This is the city center.

The former Scheffler house at an address earlier called Tannenbergallee 92, (but the satellite dishes are new).

The name of the street has changed and is in Polish now, but the number remains.

Today the city of Elbing/Elblag has its own business port with access to the Baltic.

It was in this building north of Elbing, not far from the Baltic Sea, that Hilda Scheffler first met Gustl Nikl. Their daughter and grandson stand in front of it in June, 2001.
It was from such a green landscape with abundant fresh water that Carolina had left for a desert vista by the Great Salt Lake around 1900.
The two sisters never saw each other again, but their descendants have been more fortunate.
